Mauricio Pochettino, recently announced as the new manager of Chelsea, has wasted no time in making additions to his team.

The Argentine, set to take charge on July 1, has brought in a group of trusted individuals, including, Sebastiano Pochettino, Jesus Perez, Miguel d’Agostino and Toni Jimenez.

Who is Sebastiano Pochettino?

Sebastiano Pochettino, manager Mauricio Pochettino’s son, is a part of his Chelsea coaching team.

Joining as a member of the sports science department, Sebastiano, aged 28, first worked with his father at Tottenham in 2016. He then served as a sports scientist and fitness coach during Mauricio’s time at Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite the familial connection, his appointment is based solely on merit, with Sebastiano having earned a first-class honours degree in Applied Sports Science from Southampton Solent University.

Sebastiano further enhanced his qualifications by completing a Masters in the field of ‘Integrative Biology of the Adaptations to Exercise for Health and Performance’ at Paris-Saclay University. Fluent in English, French, and Spanish, he specializes in injury prevention and strength and conditioning training.

Mauricio Pochettino has two sons, Sebastiano and Maurizio. Sebastiano is the eldest and has carved his own path in the field of sports science. Maurizio, on the other hand, has made a name for himself as a footballer, having been part of Tottenham’s development squad and scoring his first goal for the under-18 side against Norwich City in October 2018.
