The 28-year-old is in good form this season as he bags nine of the 13 races. Two of those wins have come in the UCL World Cup series in Dublin and Zonhoven. The Belgian has earlier won three consecutive World Championships between 2016, 2017, and 2018 and is now eyeing the fourth world title in his name and a chance to wear the famous UCL rainbow jersey next season.

“I have been looking forward to the World Championship in Hoogerheide for a long time. A Championship in front of this amazing crowd will end my season on a good note.  I am working on that said Wout Van Aert in an interview given to cycling magazine.com.

Throughout, his career, both in cyclocross and on the road, Van Aert has famously competed closely with the Dutch cyclist Mathieu Van Der Poel for wins. Their careers largely mirror each other and in the many cyclocross races when they’ve both competed against each other in the past decade they’ve regularly traded wins and second places.

The Belgian has already defeated the Dutchman a couple of times in his various seasons and now is set to clash with him again eyeing his fourth world cyclo-cross championship. However, in this season Van Der Poel has managed to beat him two weeks ago in Beindorm. The high barriers are also favoring the Dutchman and could tip the balance as he is clashing with the Belgian.
