Phil Urban, a 20-year-old college basketball player was shot dead on Saturday, December 17, 2022, in a New Jersey nature preserve.

Phil was found slumped on the driver’s seat in a Mercedes on Saturday evening. According to the officials, he was taken to a nearby local medical center where he was declared dead. Doctors said that his death was caused by a gunshot.

Phil was a freshman forward at the Post University and was welcomed with a tweet by the university on April 28, 2022.

“We are excited about what Phil will add to our team both as a player and person. Welcome to the nest, Phil!” tweeted the university on his welcome.

Although the investigation is going on, no arrests have been made by the police authorities.

Who was Phil Urban?

Phil Urban was a resident of Manalapan, New Jersey.

He graduated from the Pennington School. He then started playing for the Post University in Connecticut. He was doing a major in Business Administration at the Post University. He was in the Division II school in Waterbury, Connecticut.

After being welcomed by the Post university on April 28, 2022, the 6-foot-6 basketball player played a total of four games for the school’s team but didn’t score any points. He played for the Eagle’s basketball team where he played the position of forward.

This 20-year-old basketball forward was found dead on December 17, 2022. He was spotted by the Hopewell police officers in a white Mercedes C300 on a trail. According to the officers of the Mercer County Prosecutor, Phil was slumped over in the Merc’s driver’s seat. The police then immediately transported him to the Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The cause of his death was due to a gunshot wound.

After the preliminary investigation, the officials could gather the information that Phil went to meet an acquaintance and was shot there at the preserve during that time.

The Post University said, “The Post University community is heartbroken to learn of the death of freshman student, Philip Urban.”

They also talked about Phil and said, “As a member of the Men’s basketball team and a Business Administration major, Philip modeled the attributes of leadership, commitment and hard work on the court and in the classroom.”
