Fans were upset with Lisandro Martinez not starting in place of Nicholas Otamendi in the Argentina vs Croatia FIFA World Cup 2022 clash at Lusail Stadium on Wednesday.
Otamendi, even though he is old, is a veteran defender for team Argentina. He was a key part of the team that went on to win the last Copa America in 2019 defeating them in the final.

Although the Manchester United defender is in great from with his club, especially under manager Erik Ten Hag with whom Martinez played at Ajax as well, the experience of Otamendi will be a much-needed addition for Lionel Messi and co.
The first half went spectacularly for the Albiceleste and the key to their performance has been Julian Alvarez. Alvarez was fouled inside the box which led to a penalty for Argentina and Lionel Messi put them ahead in the 34th minute.

Just five minutes later, Alvarez came up with a brilliant solo run which he converted into a goal. He celebrated with Messi as the Argentina fans clapped at his wonderful effort.
The semi-final has caught Argentina by storm and earlier a Messi jersey was seen hanging from a helicopter near his Rosario home in Argentina.
Since Ronaldo and Portugal were knocked out of the FIFA World Cup by Morocco in the quarter-final, the G.O.A.T debaters have found an excuse to tout Messi’s World Cup run as an opportunity to settle the score.
