Carlos Brathwaite, the West Indies all-rounder, revealed on Tuesday that he has become a father to a newborn girl. Eden Rose is the name chosen by Brathwaite and his wife, Jessica Felix.
There is an interesting story behind that name. In the 2016 T20 World Cup final against England, the Caribbean batsman hit four consecutive sixes in the final over to lead West Indies to victory.

The game was hosted at Kolkata‘s Eden Gardens, hence inspiring Braithwaite to name daughter his daughter after the iconic stadium. The final is also renowned for former West Indies player and pundit Ian Bishop’s famous line, “Carlos Braithwaite! Remember the name”.
Meanwhile, the couple had their first child on February 6 and announced the news on Tuesday. The 33-year-old uploaded a slew of photos of his newborn baby with a lovely comment on Instagram.

In reference to Bishop’s famous remark, Brathwaite said on Instagram, “REMEMBER THE NAME Eden Rose Brathwaite D.O.B 2/6/22. You were well worth the wait, you lovely little princess. Daddy vows to love you unconditionally.” Brathwaite praised his wife, saying, “You are strong, you are tough, and I know you’ll make a wonderful mother.” “I adore you both.”
Congratulatory words poured in from Brathwaite’s family, friends, and teammates in the comments area. Fans were completely blown away by the cute photos and the thoughtful text.

Brathwaite has been out of the cricket squad for a long time. He played his last internationl match in August 2021. He is a prolific T20 player, as he has shown in competitions throughout the world and supporters are eagerly awaiting his international return. The seasoned all-rounder was left out of last year’s T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
