Cristiano Ronaldo, the Manchester United forward, slammed the club and manager Erik Ten Hag in an interview with British host Piers Morgan. After the interview made headlines everywhere, the club has come forward and said that they will consider issuing a response “after full facts are established.”

In the interview, the 37-year-old said that he “feels betrayed” by the club and finds it annoying that he is made a “black sheep” when anything goes wrong at the club. He also said that the club has not developed its infrastructure and is currently in very bad condition.

“Manchester United notes the media coverage regarding an interview by Cristiano Ronaldo,” Manchester United said in the statement. “The club will consider its response after the full facts have been established,” it added.

“Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans.”

Although the full interview has not yet been aired by TalkTV, a few excerpts were made public as a teaser on Sunday. In the clips, the footballer is seen talking about the lack of growth in the club since he left in 2009.

“The progress was zero. Since Sir Alex left (2013), I saw no evolution in the club. Nothing has changed. He (Sir Alex Ferguson) knows better than anybody that the club is not on the path that it deserves to be” he said.

Ronaldo was suspended by manager Erik Ten Hag last month after he refused to come on as a substitute in the final minutes of United’s 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur. In the interview, Ronaldo revealed that he has not taken the gesture kindly.

“I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me,” he said, adding, “If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you.”
