Novak Djokovic needed some help from the netcord to break Nick Kyrgios for the first time in his career. The two lock horns in the Wimbledon 2022 men’s singles final on Sunday. This is their third meeting. In the previous two, the Serb had never broken the Aussie.

The game was in the second set 3-6, 2-1 in Kyrgios’ favour when the Australian made an error out of nowhere. Djoko found the  corner with a backhand winner to take the points to 0-40.

The Serb then tightened his grip on the set and was leading 5-3 at one point. He won the second set 6-3 and the third 6-4.

Meanwhile, in the third set, when Djoko broke Kyrgios from 40-0 up, the Aussie lost his cool. He was visibly agitated and yelled at his team.

“Is it big enough for you?” he was heard yelling at his team, which included his girlfriend Costeen Hatzi.

The 27-year-old also complained to umpire Renaud Lichtenstein about a woman, demanding that she be ejected from the stadium.

“She’s drunk out of her mind and talking to me in the middle of a game. She’s the one who looks like she’s had 700 drinks,” he told the umpire when asked about the woman.

Djokovic leads 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 and is one set away from his seventh Wimbledon title.

At 4-4 in the third set, Kyrgios double-faulted to set up break point, then netted a backhand to hand Djokovic the break.
