Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Swedish footballer who has been terrorizing defenses for over 20 years across Europe has now ventured onto the silver screen. The 40-year-old football is set to appear in the French movie, Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Kingdom, as a Roman soldier called Antivirus.
The football legend, who is known for his inimitable goalscoring abilities on the field and a larger-than-life persona in real life, has himself taken to Twitter to share the trailer of the upcoming adventure-comedy film:
In the trailer, the footballer is seen picking up a helmet using his feet and delivering a strong uppercut to an enemy soldier. Later, he is seen taking the podium where he spreads his arms as the Roman soldiers cheer him on.

Besides Ibrahimovic, the starcast of Asterix and Obelix includes Vincent Cassel, the Cesar Award-winning French actor, who plays the role of Julius Caesar. Academy Award winner Marion Cotillard portrays Cleopatra in the Guillaume Canet directorial. Canet himself essays Asterix in the film while Obelix is played by Gilles Lellouche.
Ibrahimovic, who is currently signed with Italian giants AC Milan, has played for numerous clubs across the span of his career. His stints include those at Malmo, Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan, PSG, Manchester United, and the MLS side, LA Galaxy. He has scored a total of 510 goals in his career in 862 matches.

This is not the first time a footballer has appeared in a movie. The legendary Brazilian footballer, Pele, featured in the 1981 sports war film, Escape to Victory, alongside stars like Sylvester Stallone, Michael Caine, and Max von Sydow. Neymar Jr., another Brazilian, was featured in three episodes in the third season of the popular webseries, Money Heist. Neymar had also appeared in the 2017 action-thriller flick, XXX: Return of Xander Cage.
