Chairman of Reliance Industries, Mukesh

Although the 5G services were
launched today, users might not get the benefit of it for some time. Reliance
Jio
had earlier shared a timeline for the rollout of 5G services in India at
the Annual General Meet 2022. It was said that the rollout will take place
phase-by-phase with services first starting in the metro cities of Delhi,
Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai on Diwali, 2022.

The service, however, will be
distributed partially and not everyone using Jio in the four cities will get to
experience 5G services by this month. As announced by Ambani today, other parts
of the country will only be able to avail of the services by end of next year.

In a press statement previously, the
government stated, “5G technology will provide seamless coverage,
high data rate, low latency, and highly reliable communications. It will
increase energy efficiency, spectrum efficiency, and network efficiency”. The overall economic impact of 5G on India is expected to
reach $ 450 billion by 2035.

At the same time, Jio is also expected to launch the 5G standalone (SA), a variant of 5G that will use new network infrastructure and airwaves to carry 5G.
