The Centre has banned 47 more Chinese apps for being a threat to
sovereignty, integrity and defence of the country. A total of 106 Chinese apps have been banned so far, reported PTI quoting
sources.

According to the reports, the 47 Chinese apps that
have been banned now are clones and variants of the apps, which were blocked
earlier.

An order to this effect was issued on Friday, the
source said.

According to PTI, the list of additional apps that
have been banned was not immediately available, and there is no official word
on the matter yet.

On June 29, the government banned 59 Chinese apps, stating
that it was important for sovereignty, integrity and security of the country.

59 Chinese apps had been banned by the government included popular TikTok
app, CamScanner, SHAREit, and UC Browser, among others. That ban was
announced under the provisions of Section 69A of the Information Technology
