Elon Musk, Twitter’s Chief Twit, said the social media giant’s content moderation council is nothing more than a paper tiger, according to a video accessed by TMZ. The video was recorded during Musk’s meeting with staffers, the TMZ report says. Musk had announced in October, right after he took over the company, that Twitter will form a content moderation council.

Twitter will be forming a content moderation council with widely diverse viewpoints. No major content decisions or account reinstatements will happen before that council convenes,” Musk had tweeted on October 28.

However, the billionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX has taken a number of crucial decisions before the forming of the company, including the all important decision of reinstating former President Donald Trump on the platform. Trump is running for re-election in 2024.

Musk had initiated a poll on whether Trump should be reinstated on Twitter. As over 50% of Twitter users who voted in the poll were in favour of reinstating Trump, the social media giant decided to reinstate the former United States President. The people have decided, Musk had said while making the announcement.

In the new video, where he is seen speaking to staffers, Musk said that he will handpick members of the content moderation council and their role will only be advisory with the final decision resting on Musk himself.

Meanwhile, after Twitter let go more than two-thirds of its workforce, Musk said the company is done with firing and is ready to hire again.

The social media company let go of thousands of employees since Musk took over. At first, nearly half of the company’s 7,000-odd staffers were let go. Then, Musk said that staffers unwilling to work in the company’s new “hardcore” environment should resign. This led to hundreds of resignations and the company now has a staff strength of just around 2,700.
