Multimedia sharing app Instagram is all set to turn your shopping guide with its new Drops feature. This new feature will enable users to go through the latest products and releases that will be available in the coming weeks. One will have to sign up to use this feature, reported TechCrunch.

Drops feature, which is currently available only in the US, will reflect under the Instagram Shop tab. New drops will be updated every week with some basic details about the product. A potential buyer will be redirected to the brand’s page for further details and to make a transaction.

In the US, interested buyers can make the purchase directly from the app using the Checkout feature. The latter is available to all eligible business and creator accounts in the country.

Instagram has earlier announced that the platform is planning to take the Checkout feature outside the US as well.

The feature will facilitate Instagram to build a decent user base and is currently free of cost to help small-scale business operators recover from the blow the market suffered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to TechCrunch, the platform will later charge a fee on purchases from the brands.
