Taxi aggregator Ola on July 17 announced that its electric scooter, in its first 24 hours, received a record-breaking 100,000 reservations. Owing to this, it became the most pre-booked scooter in the world.

The company had opened the reservation of the electric scooter on July 15 and could be reserved for Rs. 500 from its official website. Due to the future of electric vehicles in the auto industry, the company is witnessing unprecedented demand from customers.

On the official website, consumers have to first create an account and then they will be able to reserve the scooter. However, the company has not announced any specifications of the scooter. 

Recently, Bhavish Aggarwal, chairman and group CEO of Ola, hinting at the launch of the scooter had asked the consumers in a series of tweets what colours should the scooters be.

According to media reports, the first batch of scooters will be produced at the company’s plant in Tamil Nadu, which is under development right now. In another tweet, Bhavish had shared an update on the progress of the Ola plant in TN. The firm has previously stated that it will invest Rs 2,400 crore in this production unit.

Earlier, Ola Electric had confirmed that the e-scooter will get an app-based key as well for a ‘keyless experience’. The company had also mentioned that the scooter can be charged up to 50% in a matter of 18 minutes using its fast charger. According to the company, the 50% charge can provide a driving range of 75 kms. In total, it can be assumed that the Ola Scooter will give a driving range of 150 kms in a single charge.
