Sony has launched a new gaming gear brand by the name of Inzone, venturing into the market with headphones and displays for PCs, as the brand tries to expand beyond PlayStation.

The venture is part of the Tokyo-based company’s push to enter the peripherals market. With new PlayStation exclusives sitting in the pipeline, and many others finding themselves on to Windows, the firm is trying to entice consumers and reassure them that they’re making games that go beyond their current gaming ecosystem.

PC games have cornered a fifth of the world’s gaming market, accounting for $44 billion in revenue in 2022, data from Newzoo shows. Not only that, but PCs also are home to some of the world’s most competitive e-sports, video streaming platforms and Internet personalities.

The first few products by Inzone will include a trio of headsets, ranging from a manageable $99.99 wired version, to a wallet-breaking 299.99 for the wireless option that comes with noise-cancelling technology. Not only that, the brand will also 27-inch monitors which will boast PS5 compatibility and will include a 4k resolution model as well as a lower resolution but higher refresh rate sitting at 240Hz for a more competitive edge.

The products are slated to release quite soon, on July 8, with some of their other products slated to release later this year, according to a release from the company. Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, Shuichi Mogitani, a general manager at Sony Marketing, told reporters that the company wanted to start pursuing “serious PC gamers.” He went on to say that the PC gaming market was a “wide-ranging business opportunity.”

Since the launch of the PlayStation 5 in 2020, Sony has been battling the chronic short supply of the console and is yet to be able to meet demand adequately. However, it has also been building towards creating a live-subscription service that they hope will rival Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass, which has seen an increase in popularity over the years.
