The electronic giants got Suga to remix their Samsung Galaxy brand song, ‘Over The Horizon’. Composed first in 2011, the jingle now serves as the default ringtone for all Samsung smartphones. The remix by Suga was released today as part of Samsung’s ‘Unpacked 2021’ event, which is an event where the company showcases their latest products, technologies and innovations.

Representatives of the brand said Suga was the perfect person to remix the track. This collaboration gave the multifaceted Suga an opportunity to diverge from the pop and R&B stylings of BTS, and showcase his producing and arranging skills. Suga also performs under a rap alter ego, August D.

“I listened to a lot of instrumentals at a young age and I’ve always wanted to make an instrumental track, so the whole process was incredible” says Suga, in a promotional video. “It was an honor to work on a song that has been part of Galaxy’s 10-year history.”

The singer and rapper said he has tried to experiment with new sounds, for this remix, and has tried to add a little emotion to it. “Like the title, ‘Over the Horizon,’ it’s about going beyond our limits,” says Suga. “No one knows what will unfold, but our dreams make us go farther than ever.”

This is not the first time BTS and the tech company have collaborated. Samsung x BTS is a popular partnership, with the two having teamed on a commercial for Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G earlier. BTS also unveiled a co-branded Galaxy S20+ 5G and Galaxy Buds+ BTS Edition, which had a BTS theme, and featured the famous purple heart associated with the popular band.

With this remix, Suga has joined the likes of Quincy Jones, and Icona Pop to create his own version of the iconic jingle.

BTS fans are predictably ecstatic at getting a chance to see another version of their favourite idol. Twitter is flooded with tweets commending Suga and Samsung on their creation. Suga is no stranger to the spotlight. In June of this year, he had reached Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales ranking, under not one but three different names.
