Japan has launched a new bullet train, which can not only run faster and smoother but can even run during an earthquake. The ‘N700S’ was launched on July 1 and connects Tokyo to Osaka, CNN reported.

In its test run in 2019, the train had set a new record with a speed of 360km/h making it one of the fastest trains in the world. However, for convenience, the Japanese railway has limited its speed at 285 km/h.

The launch of this super train was supposed to coincide with the dates of the Tokyo Olympics which got postponed to next year due to coronavirus outbreak.

N700s was the first bullet train model added to the Tokaido Shinkansen line in 13 years. It is the world’s first high-speed railway line.

Each seat in the train is designed with a distinct power outlet. The train also has better seats than the previous models offering more comfort.  The technology is such that the baggage racks will be lit up at each stop to remind passengers of their belongings.

The train has an upgraded automatic control and braking system that allows it to stop faster in case of an emergency. The officials expect the train to transport passengers to safety in unfortunate events like earthquakes, a common disaster in Japan.
