Twitter said on Thursday that users will soon be able to tip their favorite artists on the social media platform using bitcoin.

In May, the company launched tipping as a test tool to see if it might let creators earn money from their audience for the content they share on Twitter. The company announced on Thursday that its Tips function will be available to all Apple iOS users this week, followed by Android users in the coming days.

Customers could previously tip with fiat cash using more conventional payment systems such as Square’s Cash App and PayPal’s Venmo. The Strike bitcoin lighting wallet service will be integrated with Twitter so that creators may get bitcoin tips. Users will also be able to enter their bitcoin wallet address in order to send and receive these crypto tips.

Twitter does not take a percentage of any money given via its Tips function. Given that Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is a strong supporter of cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, the addition of bitcoin to the tip feature is not surprising.
