US Vice-President Kamala Harris has promised a $1.2 billion investment that will help three million school children in the country to access internet broadband services.

The Vice-President made the announcement on Tuesday during her appearance in the ABC talk show “The View”.

“We know that during the pandemic our kids lost valuable school time so we want to give them every opportunity to succeed,” Harris said while making the announcement.

“That’s a very important topic,” the host said, to which the VP smiled and nodded in agreement.

This is not the first time that Harris has pushed for broadband accessibility. In April this year, she had said that the government intends to bring broadband accessibility to rural areas through the American Jobs Plan.

“We brought electricity to rural America in the 1930s, and we can bring broadband to rural America today. The American Jobs Plan will make that happen,” the Vice-President had tweeted.

On several other occasions, she has pushed for more accessibility of technology for kids and rural communities in the United States.

Ahead of the interview with Harris, ‘The View’ host Sunny Hostin and guest host Ana Navarro both tested positive for coronavirus.

Harris did not interact with them before the show and went on to conduct the interview from a remote location following a delay.

“I hope that you’re in a safe spot right now. We did everything we could to make sure that you were safe because we value you so much,” Joy Behar told Harris during the interview

Apart from her statements in the interview, viewers noticed a “bulge in her neck”, prompting many on the internet to ask about her health and advise a medical checkup.

“@TheView Is there something wrong with @VP’s neck?  To me, the left side of her neck looks larger than the right side.  Perhaps it is just the angle of the camera, which I hope so,” a user asked.
