An increasing number of HBO Max users took to social media to ask what was wrong with the streaming giant after it officially changed its name to just “Max.” While some of the users simply wanted to take the opportunity to dole out a few memes on the occasion, others expressed frustration as they failed to log in to their accounts after the name change.

HBO Max did not only change its name. It did a complete revamp of its logo. The font reads different now and the background color has changed from purple to a bright blue. People did not only react to HBO Max dropping its first name; They also reported experiencing an array of glitches and crashes as they tried to access the streaming platform.

The issues spanned across the Max.com website as well as mobile apps including iOS and connected-TV apps on Roku and Samsung TV.  The company said the issues have been “minor” and were quickly fixed. The May 23 conversion from HBO Max to Max covers only the U.S.

A Twitter user wrote: “HBO Max is now just MAX as of today. site doesnt work. Straight up doesnt work. No menu, nothing. I logged in and the Start Streaming button does nothing. Stuck, no resource or help. Monthly charge went through without any issue though, not like they had all this time to prepare.”

A Warner Bros. Discovery spokesperson said in a statement to Variety. “You must always anticipate issues on a tech rollout of this scale. We can share that only minor ones have emerged and were quickly remedied.”

Discovery CTO Avi Saxena told Variety in an interview Monday that the company created “war rooms” in multiple locations including in Bellevue, Washington, New York, and London for the Max launch to effectively monitor customer reports of technical problems. “The entire team is on standby,” Saxena said.
