Whatsapp is soon to make messaging easy through smart glasses without having to take out mobile phones anymore.

Users of Ray-Ban Stories will soon be able to send a WhatsApp message without having to take out their smartphone by speaking to their smart glasses. This feature may become a reality in the next few days, according to a new APK analysis of the WhatsApp for Android app. However, because it appears to be a tool exclusive to Facebook Assistant, the feature will be limited to Ray-Ban Storie’s smart glasses.

Strings of data indicating this function were discovered in the latest WhatsApp beta, 2.22.9.13, according to an XDA Developers report. Some users have noticed data that suggests a function is being created to dictate messages using Facebook Assistant on the specific wearable line. The data only specifies an assistant. However, the report claims that it is most likely referring to the Facebook Assistant rather than the Google Assistant.

According to the report, this new function will allow Ray-Ban Stories users to dictate messages into the smart glasses’ microphone. Users will be able to send a WhatsApp message to a friend while strolling down the street without touching their phones because they can tell Facebook Assistant to do it. Apart from the strings of code revealed during the breakdown, the report also highlights graphics such as the smart glasses and the WhatsApp logo.

This feature will serve a specific purpose and could support Ray-Ban Stories in changing the wearables market. Because Meta wants to keep certain of its WhatsApp features in-house, it will use Facebook Assistant instead of any other third-party services. However, APK teardowns are no formal confirmation as all features seen in beta versions don’t make it to the final launch.
