Linda Yaccarino, a prominent figure in the media industry, has been appointed as the new CEO of Twitter today. The announcement comes after a months-long search for a new leader for the popular social media platform, since Elon Musk bought Twitter in October 2022 and started heading it himself. Claude Peter Madrazo is Yaccarino’s husband.

He said she “will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology.” He added, “Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app.”

Yaccarino is known for her leadership roles at companies like NBCUniversal, where she most recently served as Chairman of Advertising and Partnerships. During her time at NBCUniversal, Yaccarino oversaw the company’s advertising sales strategy and partnerships with major brands. She was also instrumental in launching the company’s streaming service, Peacock.
Prior to joining NBCUniversal, Yaccarino held various executive positions at Turner Broadcasting System, helping to grow the company’s advertising revenue.
The move comes at a crucial time for the social media platform, which has been struggling to retain advertisers following a tumultuous year that saw Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s takeover and subsequent changes to the platform’s advertising policies.

Yaccarino’s extensive experience in the advertising industry is expected to be a major asset to Twitter, as the platform seeks to win back the confidence of top chief marketing officers and other advertising executives. With her wealth of relationships in the industry, Yaccarino is well-positioned to build partnerships and drive growth in advertising revenue for the platform.
The loss of advertisers on Twitter over the past year has been significant, with the platform reportedly losing billions of dollars in revenue. Yaccarino’s appointment as CEO is a clear signal that Twitter is committed to turning things around and strengthening its position in the highly competitive social media landscape.
