Next time you feel like re-tweeting an article that you haven’t read, think twice as Twitter will catch you redhanded. In its latest move to curb fake information, Twitter is soon planning to roll out a new feature that would prompt users to read an article before they retweet it.
“Sharing an article can spark conversation, so you may want to read it before you Tweet it. To help promote informed discussion, we’re testing a new prompt on Android –– when you Retweet an article that you haven’t opened on Twitter, we may ask if you’d like to open it first,” Twitter had said when it first introduced the feature in June.
Since it began testing with a limited number of users, Twitter noticed that people opened articles 40% more often after seeing the prompt and people opening articles before retweeting in general increased by 33%

As it worked and in fact gave out encouraging results, Twitter will now work towards “ bringing these prompts to everyone globally.”
What does this mean? If you are attempting to retweet an unread article, Twitter will send you a prompt before you are able to share, which reads, “headlines don’t tell the full story.” You’ll then have to confirm that you want to share.
