Japanese multinational tech giant Sony has invested in Discord, an instant messaging and networking app. The company has planned to bring Discord to its PlayStation console in 2022. The move of collaborating the gaming-centred chat app with PlayStation is seen as a big step by Sony.

The focus between both the companies is to give a better gaming experience to the users through side-by-side voice chat facility. Though Sony provides voice chat but it is nowhere close to the instant chat app Discord.

A major product change is expected after changes are made according to the company's plans for 2022. The motive will be to “allowing friends, groups, and communities to hang out, have fun, and communicate more easily while playing games together,” said Sony Interactive  Entertainment chief Jim Ryan in a blog post.

Discord is known to be a popular group chatting platform among the gaming community and Sony's move will definitely want people to buy PlayStation.
