Coldplay have been keeping busy lately. The British rock band has
been shocking its fans by announcing star studded collaborations for their new
album Music of The Spheres which is slated for a release on October 15th. The
music group has joined hands with Selena Gomez for a track titled Let Somebody
Go.

The announcement was made by Selena Gomez’s official Twitter
account where the actor posted a 15 second preview of the song with its title.

Coldplay shared Selena’s tweet with the caption, “Let Somebody Go – Coldplay X Selena Gomez // From #MusicOfTheSpheres,
the new album, October 15th // https://coldplay.lnk.to/MOTS // @selenagomez,”

In the short clip, the ‘Wolves’ singer
and Chris Martin can be heard singing, “When I called the
mathematicians and I asked them to explain/ They said love is only equal to the
pain” over a soothing instrumental.

While Coldplay’s lead singer Chris
Martin is an admirer of Selena’s music. Another reason behind this magical collaboration
could be Coldplay trying to attract a younger audience with the help of the American
sweetheart’s popularity among the youth.

It could turn out to be the band’s
biggest collaboration considering the29-year-old’s popularity and her smooth
vocals. As per reports from British tabloid The Sun, the song was recorded in
April.

A source told the tabloid, “Chris has always been a huge fan of Selena and it’s a dream
come true that she’s finally singing on a Coldplay record.”

“They already have plans for a ­special
live performance around the launch of the band’s album.”

Selena has been busy shooting for
her series Only Murders In the Building, her fans have been eagerly waiting for
new releases from the singer and the fact that it comes in collaboration with
Coldplay is like a cherry on top.

The band has been flying high after
its collaboration with BTS called ‘My Universe’ debuted at number three on the
UK singles chart on Friday. The song will be a part of the upcoming album. An acoustic
version of the same was unveiled as well.
