The 2021 BET Awards will be broadcast live on Sunday from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. The 21st edition of the award show was first established in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television Network. The show will include many firsts, including the highest number of performers in the 21 years of the BET Awards.

Meet the host

Hollywood actor Taraji P Henson will be hosting the 2021 BET Awards. This year’s show will be honouring Black women.

“This year, in particular, we’re honoring Black women,” she had said.

The nominations.

The most nominated artists this year are DaBaby and Megan Thee Stallion with seven nominations each. The next on the list are Cardi B and Drake, with five nods each.

26-year-old was nominated in the video of the year, album of the year, best female hip hop artists and best collaboration for her tracks with DaBaby and Cardi B.

Meanwhile, DaBaby has been nominated for album of the year, best male hip hop artist and best collaboration for four total tracks.

The list of performers includes Migos, Andra Day, H.E.R. and DaBaby.

Others to perform are DJ Khaled, City Girls, Jazmine Sullivan, Kirk Franklin, Lil Baby Lil Durk, Moneybagg Yo!, among others.

Last year, the awards show was hosted virtually and featured performances from the likes of Alicia Keys, John Legend and Lil Wayne.

This year, Queen Latifah is set to be honored with the lifetime achievement award during the big night.
