The release of the much-awaited 7-part web series ‘Breakpoint’ answered a gamut of questions for the millions of inquisitive Tennis icons Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes fans, across the globe. The show depicts the duo’s legendary partnership that just  didn’t win them some of the most prestigious accolades but also etched them closer to the people’s hearts.

Consequently their fall-out evoked a massive wave of sadness and disappointment amongst their fans from far wide.

Clearing all the air of controversies which loomed above and over the duo since their fall-out, filmmaker duo Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Nitesh Tiwari’s web series, set the records straight once and for all.

The series brought to the fore, point-of-views of the ones who played significant roles in their respective lives and careers. It captured candid opinions of the ones who either witnessed it all happening first-hand or were a part of it themselves. Apart from their friends, families, colleagues, media persons and contemporaries, the duo garnered appreciation from popular Bollywood superstars Amitabh Bachchan.

LeeHesh (as Leander and Mahesh are fondly called) lived their fan moment when they received an advertorial opportunity with Mr. Bachchan.

Big B not only acknowledged the terrific performance of the duo but also spoke about the kind of recognition the pair has brought to India, as a country. On their fall-out, he said, “You guys should keep listening to our song from Sholay, Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Toddenge on loop, hoping that might bind you both together again” (in Hindi).

Leander and Mahesh were once called the poster boys for the sport in the country. The two played together from 1994 to 2006 and reunited for their second stint from 2008 to 2011. The tennis icons were the first doubles team from the country to win at Wimbledon in 1999. Besides the Wimbledon championship that they won in 1999, Paes and Bhupathi also won two French Open titles in 1999 and 2001.
