Congress on Sunday released the list of its 86 candidates for the upcoming Assembly polls in Kerala, reported ANI. Among the notable names are former Chief Minister Ommen Chandy, who’ll contest from Pudupally, Lok Sabha MP K Muraleedharan from Nemom and Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly Ramesh Chennithala, who’ll contest from Haripad.

Kerala Students Union (KSU) president KM Abhijeet will contest from Kozhikode, sitting MLAs VT Balram from Thrithala, Shafi Parambil from Palakkad and Anil Akkara from from Wadakkanchery.

Former Kerala BJP chief Kummanam Rajasekharan will contest from Nemom Assembly seat and cine actor Dharmajan from Balussery.

As the leader of the United Democratic Front (UDF), Congress is part of the Opposition in Kerala. The other parties that are part of the alliance are the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), Kerala Congress (Joseph), Revolutionary Socialist Party, among others. 

Assembly polls in Kerala are scheduled from April 6. Votes will be counted on May 2.
