Conservative activist Charlie Kirk said Juneteenth CRT-inspired federal holiday.

Juneteenth is celebrated to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. The holiday, also known as Emancipation Day or Freedom Day, is observed annually on June 19th.

The significance of Juneteenth dates back to June 19, 1865, when Union Army General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and issued General Order No. 3, which proclaimed the freedom of all enslaved people in Texas. This announcement came two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863. Due to the limited presence of Union troops in Texas, the news of emancipation had not reached enslaved individuals in the state until General Granger’s arrival.
