Although Detroit Pistons had a season to forget in 2020-21, they have secured the first overall pick in July’s NBA Draft and will set them up for securing some firepower to bolster their roster.

Meanwhile, with some luck in the NBA Draft Lottery, the Houston Rockets, who had to let go of James Harden this season, will pick second and Cleveland Cavaliers will go third.

Toronto Raptor will make the final break into the Top 4 while Orlando Magic will pick fifth and eighth.

Golden State Warriors would have liked to pick higher given their disappointing season, but they had to settle for 7th and 14th.

Only the 14 teams that did not make the 2021 postseason were eligible for the lottery.

How does the Lottery system work?

The lottery is quite a simple process unlike what it’s made to be. Only the first four picks are determined during the lottery and the remainder of the “lottery teams” will select in positions five through 14 in inverse order of their 2020-21 regular-season records.
