Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh, a staunch supporter of the ongoing farmers’ protest, on Monday took a dig at those who criticised farmers for having pizza at Singhu border, a protest site.

Last week, around 400 pizzas were distributed at the Singhu borders where farmers have been protesting for more than two weeks against the recently-passed agricultural laws. A group of friends had organised “pizza langar” for farmers as they could not organise regular langar due to shortage of time.

The 36-year-old “Udta Punjab” actor, backing the farmers, tweeted a picture that read: “Farmers consuming poison was never a concern but farmers eating pizza is news.”

So far, the tweet has garnered around 70,000 likes and roughly 9,000 people have retweeted it.

Earlier this month, Diljit Dosanjh made the generous donation of Rs 1 crore to the cause of the farmers, who are spending their days on the streets in the harsh Delhi winters.

Diljit Dosanjh has shown solidarity with the protesting farmers on social media too. He also visited the protest site at Delhi-Haryana border as a show of support. “We have only one request from the Centre… please fulfil the demands of our farmers. Everyone is sitting here peacefully and the entire country is with farmers. This agitation is about farmers,” he had said at the time.

The singer-actor earlier, in a face-off on Twitter, criticised Kangana Ranaut for misidentifying an elderly woman at the farmers’ protest as one of the organisers of the Shaheen Bagh demonstration against the centre’s controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAA).
