A Malaysian man arrived at a vaccination centre dressed up in a green coloured dinosaur costume to get his dose in the state of Sarawak while the passers-by were left wondering why a dinosaur would need to be protected against COVID-19.

Kenny Sia, the man who sported the dinosaur costume, posted his pictures on social media after getting the vaccine shot and filled his followers with confusion. The Instagram post was captioned, “Got my first dose of Sinovac today”.

He later clarified his intentions in an interview with Malay Mail and said he wanted to cheer up the frontline workers working tirelessly and administering people with the COVID vaccine through his small act, according to reports from Indian Express.

“Surprisingly, when I went to Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), the frontline workers and volunteers played along and acted as if I were an ordinary person”, he said in the interview.

The 39-year-old man also said in an interview with Reuters that the huge costume also worked as an extra layer of protection against the deadly virus. “I decided to go the whole way. The whole suit is effectively a PPE”, said Sia.

The Malaysian man said that he did not buy the dinosaur costume specifically for getting the vaccine but used the get-up while playing with this child.

In response to the gesture, the vaccination centre not only played along with the gimmick and posted photos of Sia’s visit on its social media platforms but also created a step by step guide of getting safely vaccinated at the centre, in an attempt to encourage more people to get the jab.

However, the vaccination centre also passed on a message that advised people not to repeat the act while citing safety concerns. The statement jokingly said, “For maximum comfort, we advise future vaccination guests to come as humans”, according to reports from Indian Express.
