The police on Sunday recovered a huge amount of explosives, including a jacket, from the village house of the suspected ISIS operative who was arrested by the Delhi Police special cell after an encounter late on Friday.

News agency ANI reported that huge quantity of explosives were seized by the police. A jacket, which was allegedly prepared to carry out fidayeen (suicide) attack, was also recovered, ANI reported quoting sources.

The operative identified as Mohammad Mustakim Khan, alias Abu Yusuf Khan was arrested from central Delhi’s Ridge Road area following a brief exchange of fire on Friday night. He was armed with two pressure cooker IEDs during the encounter. The bombs were later defused by the NSG.

PS Kushwah, DCP (Special Cell) said that Khan was planning to carry out ‘lone wolf’ attach at a ‘heavy footfall area in the national capital’. He had planned to carry out the strike on August 15 but could not succeed.

“Khan was to come to Delhi around August 15 to carry out terror strikes… Now, he felt the security could be lax so he could come here. But he was nabbed,” Kushwah told reporters.

Khan’s family said they were unaware about his links with the ISIS and appealed the authorities for ‘forgiveness’.

“He had stored gunpowder and other materials at home here. When I told him he should not do such things, he told me that I should not stop him. I wish he could be forgiven. I have four kids. Where will I go?” his wife told ANI.

I regret he was involved in such activities. I wish he could be forgiven for once if possible but his act is wrong. Had I known about his activities I would have asked him to leave us,” his father said.
