A video of American
gymnast Nia Dennis’s dance and exercise routine, lauding black culture and
excellence, is winning adulation from fans and colleagues on social media.

The now-viral video, shared
by the official account of UCLA Gymnastics on Twitter, captured Dennis performing her dance routine while competing against Arizona State.

In an interview with the Washington Post, Dennis said that she wanted her dance routine to be an expression of everything black people can do and a celebration of what the community can endure and overcome.

For those who haven’t seen the video yet, here it is.

The best part of the
video, apart from Dennis’ performance, was the music tracks she was dancing on. The
video featured a mash-up of songs by black music artists like Kendrick Lamar, Soulja Boy, Tupac Shakur, Missy
Elliott, Megan Thee Stallion and Beyonce.

“Every single song is a major black artist, musician, from different time periods. They had a huge impact on black culture, which has also had a huge impact on me. So I’m just literally celebrating what they’ve done and having the time of my life,” Dennis told the Washington Post.

While Dennis’ routine was awarded a spectacular 9.950
by the judges and pushed UCLA to achieve a 196.150-195.950 victory over Arizona
State, it managed to win millions of hearts on social media which includes
former first lady Michelle Obama, US rapper Missy Elliott,
Simone Biles among several others.

However,
it is not the first time Dennis made her mark with the stellar performance.
Last year, she made headlines for a routine set to a medley of pop singer Beyoncé
songs.
