Highway 101 was closed, on both sides, on Monday morning after a two-vehicle crash. Oregon State Police confirmed to FOX 12 that three people have died.

All lanes of Highway 101 are closed at milepost 122, just south of Lincoln City. Drivers are being asked to avoid the area or expect long delays.

“US 101 closed due to a crash at #GlenedenBeach, south of #Salishan, MP 122. We’re detouring traffic to Gleneden Beach Loop. Commercial vehicles need to use alt routes. Expect a lengthy closure and watch out for response crews in the area. http://TripCheck.com for updates,” Oregon Deptartment of Transportation said on Twitter.

As per mendovoice.com, a one-way traffic control should be in place within two hours. It will last through late Monday night and possibly into Tuesday morning, the report adds. 

The report, citing the CHP incident page, further states that the accident involved a semi-truck carrying 50,000 pounds of cement and occured around 6:20 AM. The Hopland Fire Protection District said that fuel was spilled in addition to cement mix. A Hazmat team is responding to assist with the cleanup.

“That whole stretch of HWY 101 is full of just dry wilderness,” a social media user said on Twitter. 

Earlier in the day, authorities said that four people remain in critical condition after a car drove through a crowd at a weekend fundraiser for victims of a fatal northeastern Pennsylvania fire earlier this month, killing one woman and injuring 17 other people.

Adrian Oswaldo Sura Reyes, 24, is charged with homicide in the death of 50-year-old Rebecca Reese, of Wilkes-Barre, at the Berwick fundraiser shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday. He faces another homicide count in the slaying of his mother at their Nescopeck home minutes later.

Police allege in a criminal complaint that Sura Reyes told investigators that he was driving in Berwick after arguing with his mother and was, “tired of fighting with his mother, including about money, and wanted to be done with it.”
