Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been admitted to All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for “a complete medical checkup before the Parliament Session for 1-2 day,” according to a statement released by AIIMS on Sunday.  The Monsoon Session of the Parliament is scheduled to begin from Monday.

Wishing him speedy recovery, BJP leader Jyotiraditya M Scindia tweeted, “Received news of Home Minister Amit Shah being admitted to AIIMS. I pray to God that you get well soon and get ready to serve the country again with old energy.”

The home minister tested positive for coronavirus on August 12 after which he was taken to a private hospital in Gurugram. On August 14, he had tweeted that he would be in home isolation for a few more days on the advice of his doctors.

He was then admitted to AIIMS on August 18 after he complained of “fatigue and body ache”. He left the hospital after 13 days on August 31 after the doctors said the Home Minister had “recovered”.

“Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, is admitted at AIIMS, New Delhi for post-COVID care. He has recovered and is likely to be discharged in a short time,” the AIIMS had said in a statement on August 30.

BJP spokesperson Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga also wished speedy recovery to the 55-year-old BJP minister.
