Appaji Gowda, JD(S) leader and former MLA from Bhadravati in Shivamogga of Karnataka died in the wee hours of Wednesday, at the age of 67, reported news agency ANI. 

The Janata Dal (Secular) leader had tested positive for COVID-19 earlier and was admitted to a hospital after complaining of chest pain. 

Gowda had joined the JD(S) and emerged victorious in the 2013 Karnataka assembly elections. He had beaten Congress candidate Ibrahim in a major win to pave his road as an MLA.
