Appreciating the work done by various NGOs and people of his constituency, Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that “Kashi is full of enthusiasm and hope”. PM’s statement came while he was interacting with the representatives of Varanasi-based NGO’ on Thursday. The NGO had provided essential items and ration kits to people in the middle of COVID-19 induced lockdown.

Stating that he is inspired by their work, PM Modi said that the “virus is nothing in front of Kashi”. He also said that the city gives pace to the rest of the world. He also ensured people that the government has taken various steps to boost trade and aid the people of Kashi.

“With proper support, Varanasi can emerge as a leading export hub. It can lead as an example in making India self-reliant (Atmanirbhar),” he said. PM Modi also praised the ‘corona warriors’ of India and said that voluntary service is the new form of service.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister was briefed about the various steps taken by the NGO’s to combat the coronavirus outbreak.

Earlier, the Prime Minister’s office had released a statement appreciating the timely work done by the residents of Varanasi.

“Over 100 organisations in Varanasi distributed almost 20 lakh food packets and 2 lakh dry ration kits via food cell of district administration through individual efforts,” the release stated.
