A Facebook message reunited a mother with her teenage daughter, who was abducted 14 years ago, at the US-Mexico border. The official reunion of the mother and daughter took place on Monday in Texas, though the two had first met at the border last week.

According to NDTV, the duo got reunited after the daughter, who was abducted and separated from her mother from Florida some 14 years back, contacted her mother on the social media platform Facebook earlier this month. She told her mother about her current location in Mexico.

Soon after receiving the message, the woman got in touch with the Clermont Police on September 2, 2021, and informed them about her conversation with a woman, who claimed to be her long-lost daughter. She informed the police that the woman had asked her to meet at the point of entry to the US in Laredo, Texas on September 10, 2021.

After this, the police forces in Florida and Texas and investigators from the Department of Homeland Security laid out a plan to “intercept” the meeting and verify the daughter’s identity.

After hours of investigation, officials verified the documents provided by the different agencies involved and concluded that the woman, who contacted on Facebook indeed was the missing daughter of Ms Vences-Salgado.

The Clermont Police issued a press release on Facebook about the incident and social media users have since are expressing love a d happiness for the reunited mother and daughter. The users have also lauded the efforts of the police authority in the case.

“Incredible and such an emotional story. So happy for a happy ending but can’t imagine the agony all those years. Prayers for the missing” wrote one user.

“Would love to hear the whole story!” wrote another user.

“Was this young person abducted in Clermont (parent/stranger?)… this is great news but so many missing elements to what happened,” another user expressed.
