The Young Money rapper Lil Wayne is being sued by his former personal chef, who alleges she was fired without justification.

According to documents acquired by TMZ on Tuesday, December 20, Morghan Medlock is alleging, among other things, that she was fired unfairly. The issue, according to Medlock, arose on a Memorial Day trip she had with Wayne to Las Vegas, when she was forced to leave at the last minute after learning that her 10-year-old had suffered a head injury and was being treated in the hospital.

Legal filings state that Morghan Medlock sued rapper Lil Wayne musician, real name Dwayne Carter, for wrongful termination, discrimination, and retaliation. According to the lawsuit, the chef prepared the majority of the rapper’s meals for over a year while working for him.

According to Medlock, she was employed by Wayne in October 2020, and given the responsibility of “daily coordination of Wayne’s menus to satisfy his specific needs”. She said, “Her tasks included, but were not limited to, shopping for and preparation of each meal, coordinating the anticipated number of meals to prepare in addition to meeting others demands and requests.” Due to the nature of his business, it appears that part of the work also involved travelling with Lil’ Wayne. She asserts that she was “on call” for the majority of the days that she worked with the musician.

The chef alleges that she boarded a different flight after being on a flight with the musician and his team. Even though they had all boarded Wayne’s private jet to return to Los Angeles, he was supposedly smoking on it and seriously delaying the flight. Given that she had been working for the rapper for two years, Medlock thought that his staff would be understanding, but she was terminated.

The documentation claims that following the incident, Wayne’s staff kept asking Medlock if she was quitting, and despite her repeated denials, Medlock experienced hostility when she attempted to return to work. She eventually received a formal notice that she was being fired.

Eventually, according to Medlock’s lawsuit, someone on Wayne’s team sent her an impolite farewell, and she was then informed in writing that she was being fired along with a message from Wayne that allegedly said, “Tell Chef Morghan this isn’t going to work”.

She claims that Wayne owes her at least $500k as compensation for the injustice, as it is against California law to dismiss someone for being absent from work due to caring for their sick or injured child.
