On Friday, Michelle Obama performed at Bruce Springsteen’s concert at Barcelona’s Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium in Spain. Michelle sang and played the tambourine to the Born in the U.S.A. classic while Kate Capshaw, the wife of Steven Spielberg, accompanied the former first lady in singing along while Bruce Springsteen. The E Street Band sang “Glory Days.”

According to reporters, former president Barack Obama, Spielberg, and Springsteen had dinner at the Palace Hotel’s Amar restaurant the previous evening. Employee Pol Perello uploaded a photo of the group posing with the employees at the restaurant and said, “The pleasure this job brings you!”

The friendship between Springsteen and Obama dates back to Barack Obama’s initial presidential campaign in 2008, when he performed The Rising with the Joyce Garrett Singers, a gospel choir, at his Inaugural Address. Springsteen supported Obama on tour a second time during his 2012 reelection campaign after performing at numerous of his initial campaign events and the president’s inauguration. Even Obama’s campaign anthem was written by him.

President Obama later presented Springsteen with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, close to the end of his term. Moreover, As Obama and the White House staff got ready to leave and make way for the Donald Trump administration, he came back to Washington, DC, to perform a private concert for them. In 2021, Obama and Springsteen also collaborated on a short podcast series titled Renegades: Born in the USA.

Following a summer tour of Europe, the E Street Band will return to the United States in August for a stadium run, followed by a string of arena dates in the autumn. The Chase Centre in San Francisco, California, hosts the event’s conclusion on December 8.
