‘Bangarraju’, starring Nagarjuna
Akkineni
and Naga Chaitanya, is coming to ZEE5 following a great theatrical
run. The film, which marks the father-son duo’s second
collaboration, will be released on the OTT platform on February 18.

‘Bangarraju’ was released on
Sankranti. While the film was well received by the public, it was not a
critical success. ‘Bangarraju’, according to Manoj Kumar R of Indianexpress, is a
“sorry excuse of a movie.”

“For some time, we watch
Bangarraju with hundreds of girls mindlessly clapping for him,” the critic
said. “It appears that the entire village is dedicated to feeding his ego and
making him happy at all costs. Almost no one, man or woman, believes in the
concept of self-respect. Such films promote the problematic notion of women as
a desirable commodity to be obtained by wealthy, attractive, and blessed males.”

“The larger the number of girls dying to be with him, the more valuable he is.
When all the villagers huddle up and decide to keep the young girls in the
family in control because according them Bangarraju is too sexy and the girls
might simply lose self-control to ignore the advances of a man who is an
established flirt, the film adds another dimension to its faulty view of what
are desirable features in a man.”

“When we were filming for
Manam, there was a little nervousness in me to act in front of my father,”
Naga Chaitanya told the Indian Express about working with his
father Nagarjuna Akkineni. “That work experience gave me more freedom to work in
Bangarraju.”

The actor was in the news for
quite some time for his divorce with his actress wife Samantha Ruth Prabhu a
few months ago, who announced their separation on social media in a statement.
