Andrew Cuomo, the Governor for the State of New York, said that hospitals that do not administer the allotted doses of the COVID-19 vaccines will be fined by the state of New York and their supply of the vaccine will be decreased, reported Reuters.

Out of the 13 million doses that have been supplied by the US Government to various states, only 4 million have been actually administered according to the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Dr. Howard Zucker, the Health Commissioner of New York, has also notified hospitals of the possible actions, according to Reuters.

Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, has also announced a similar policy where the allocation of COVID-19 vaccine doses will be focused more upon the hospitals which dispense them faster.

The governor said that he does not want the vaccine sitting idle in some hospitals. However, unlike Andrew Cuomo, the governor of Florida did not mention any possible fines against the hospitals.

Florida will also deploy an additional 1,000 nurses to administer vaccines and will keep state-run vaccination sites open seven days a week, he said.

The state of Florida is all set to put an additional 1,000 nurses in the field to keep the vaccination drive in full swing, reported Reuters.
