England’s wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Banton, who is playing for Quetta Gladiators in the ongoing Pakistan Super League is “isolating” after he tested positive for COVID-19, the player confirmed on Twitter. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday confirmed that three more people, including two foreign players, had tested positive for COVID-19.

“Thanks a lot for all the messages and well wishes. Unfortunately, I received a positive Covid-19 test yesterday and I am now isolating and following the PSL protocols,” Banton said in a tweet on Wednesday.

“Fortunately I am feeling OK so far and I have been well looked after by the PCB and Quetta Gladiators. Thanks for the support, look after yourselves and stay safe,” the player added.

Although the PCB did not name the two foreign players who had tested positive for COVID-19, the statement came a day after Australia leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed tested positive.

“I can confirm that two foreign players and one support staff member have tested positive from the results of the 242 PCR tests we had conducted on all the franchises their officials and support staff since yesterday,” PCB’s director of media Sami Burney said at a press conference on Tuesday.

“Out of the three positive results, one player belongs to Islamabad and the remaining to two other franchises,” he said. Although Ahmed belongs to Islamabad United, it isn’t clear if he was the player Burny referred to.
