Initial investigation revealed that the two boys were forced into a vehicle in the 2000 block of Holly Street in Harrisburg. The vehicle was reportedly being driven by Kenneth Smiley, 39.

It remains unclear if Smiley was in any way related to the two children. Police described Smiley as 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. His clothing description was unknown.

Smiley and the two children were reportedly traveling in a 2008 black Nissan Maxima with Pennsylvania license plate LMJ-5478.

Authorities urged the public to call 911 if anyone spots the vehicle or the missing children.

An Amber Alert or a child abduction emergency alert is a message issued by a child abduction alert system asking the public for assistance in locating abducted children. The method was developed in the United States.

It is an abbreviation that stands for America’s Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response, inspired by Amber Rene Hagerman, a teenager who was kidnapped killed in 1996.

The alerts are broadcast by Emergency Alert System and NOAA Weather Radio via commercial and public radio stations, Internet radio, satellite radio, television stations, text messaging, and cable TV.

Police bodies, and in some cases highway patrol, issue an AMBER Alert.

This is a developing story.
