Delhi Capitals‘ opener Prithvi Shaw on Thursday hit six fours on all legal deliveries in the first over of the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The Indian Premier League hailed Shaw’s six fours on Twitter, saying: “Wd, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4 @PrithviShaw 24 (6) has set the stage on Six boundaries in the 1st over bowled by Mavi.”

The opening over, from which Kolkata never recovered, was bowled by Shivam Mavi. The 22-year-old started off with a wide, and on his next delivery, Shaw smashed the ball for a four.

On the second legal delivery of the over, Mavi bowled full and straight, which Shaw hit over midwicket for a four. The 21-year-old hit another four on the next ball that was overpitched by Mavi. 

Mavi bowled a slow low full toss on the fourth legal delivery, on which Shaw through the covers hit another boundary. On the next ball, Shaw followed it with another four. 

In the sixth, last delivery of the over, Mavi bowled a full ball pitched outside off stump, on which Shaw hit another boundary, thus, smashing fours off all legal deliveries. 

In 18 balls, Shaw also hit the fastest 50 of the season, breaking the record of the previous best hit by Deepak Hooda of Punjab Kings against Rajasthan Royals. 

In a 155-run chase against KKR, Shaw hit 82 runs off 41 balls. In only 22 balls, Delhi passed 50 and for 16.2 overs, the team sped their winning total of 156 in three wickets.
