Liverpool on Tuesday, completed a deadline-day signing of Ozan Kabak on loan from Schalke, which is now subject to international clearance, reported Goal.

Kabak will stay at Liverpool till the end of the season, who will have the option to make the move permanent in the summer for a fee of £18 million ($25m).

The 20-year-old defender had moved to Schalke from from Stuttgart in 2019 and is said to be one of the two signings for Liverpool on the winter deadline day, the other being Ben Davies.

Liverool will be paying the initial loan fee of around £1m ($1.4m) for Kabak while it will cost them over $1.6 m for Davies once all performance-related add-ons are triggered.

While Liverpool had earlier insisted that it will be a quite transfer window, a series of injuries, especially centre-backs led them to the signings.

While  Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are likely to miss the rest of the season, Joel Matip’s ankle ligament injury could keep him out for quite some time. Fabinho too, is suffering from a muscle injury and is likely to miss Sunday’s major clash with Manchester City.

Liverpool also signed 19-year-old goalkeeper Liam Hughes and is likely to sign another player for the youth team.
