The vintage ‘matching sweater sets’ look is back in trend, all thanks to Katie Holmes. All of it started when the American actor stepped out of her home in a cashmere bra and cardigan, which was instantly read as cool and created a viral fashion moment.

“It was very comfortable and easy and I think Khaite do such a good job with creating beautiful luxury items,” Katie told Vogue speaking about the style.

The trend from the ‘50s and ’90s combines two things that have grown in popularity over the past year, cardigans and monochromatic outfits.

Kendall Jenner who wore a purple sweater set in 2019 was an early adopter of the trend. But, Hailey Bieber wasn’t too far behind. She wore an oversized long robe-like duster that also matched her pants.

You can also wear sweater sets with any type of bottoms, whether your go-to is jeans, khakis, shorts, or a skirt. You can also have some fun by pairing it with a bottom with a similar pattern.

The trend is here to stay and if you are not sure about committing to it take it slow. Experiment and make your own pairing. While designers and fast fashion stores sell newer, modernized sets, you can also find vintage and sustainable options.
