Whatsapp is going to have a couple of much-needed updates soon, including voice and video call support on its web version. With the recent 2.2043.7 update, the messaging platform lets its users call only on the mobile application.

As per the reports by WABetaInfo, the voice and video calls will not be limited to private chats. Whatsapp Web will also support group voice and video calls on the web as well.

The calling feature is expected to release in a couple of weeks for public beta users. However, Whatsapp’s web version still lacks features such as adding new contacts and uploading status.

According to WABetaInfo, once the feature goes live, the user will see two new buttons in the top bar indicating the video and voice call feature.

A new pop-up window will appear on the screen when there’s an incoming call. The user will be able to accept, decline, or ignore the call. Whatsapp is also planning to add a compact window during the call, which will have video call button, mic button, hang up button, and the option to view the status of the call.

The release date of these features is not yet confirmed. However, these updates will definitely make Whatsapp Web easier and more efficient for the users.
