As India gears up for its 75th Independence Day on August 15, the country will be commemorating the freedom struggle and freedom fighters with tributes. In the last 75 years, the Indian film industries have produced many memorable movies about the Indian freedom struggle and helped to bring the heroes of modern India to the citizens. ,The actors who had opted to portray the roles of many freedom fighters are numerous, as are the freedom fighters. Let’s take a look at some of the Indian actors who have played the role of notable figures who gave the country its Independence. A nine-year-old boy from a Dalit community was allegedly beaten up by a teacher at a private school in Rajasthan’s Jalore district on July 20 and died on Saturday, police said. The incident took place at Surana village. The child, Indra Meghwal, was hospitalised in Ahmedabad. He died in the hospital during treatment. ,Chail Singh, 40, was arrested by the police and charged him with murder and sections of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Internet has been suspended in the area to prevent the situation from escalating. ,Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed grief over the incident. Harsh Vardhan Agarwalla, Superintendent of Police of Jalore, said the boy was beaten up badly and added that the reason cited for it – touching a drinking water pot – was yet to be investigated. ,“We have filed a case against the teacher, Chail Singh, under section 302 of the IPC and the SC/ST Act and have arrested him,” the police officer said. ,The boy's father said he suffered injuries in his face and ear and almost became unconscious. The boy was taken to the district hospital, from where he was referred to a hospital in Udaipur. But his condition did not improve even there and he finally succumbed on Saturday, the boy's father Devaram Meghwal said. The state education department has asked two officials to probe the matter and submit a report to the block education officer. The BJP on Sunday demanded action against the owner of a private school after a minor Dalit boy died after being allegedly beaten up by a teacher for touching a water pot. BJP spokesperson and MLA Ramlal Sharma said recognition of the school should be cancelled so that discipline is maintained. The BSP has also condemned the incident and will give representations addressed to the President on Tuesday.

The visits were important for India as it is trying to make inroads into the African countries to counter China's dominance. ,During one of the visit, India signed a Foreign Office level consultations agreement with Djibouti. The country also granted $600 million in assistance to the African country. Kovind was also the chief guest in many Golden Jubilee celebrations for Bangladesh and Mauritius.

Gujarat legislator Jignesh Mevani on Monday alleged that his arrest by the Assam Police is a pre-planned conspiracy designed by the Prime Minister's Office to destroy him ahead of assembly elections in the state and termed it an act of 56-inch cowardice. A quasi-judicial panel established by the US Congress recommended to the Biden administration on Monday that India, China, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and 11 other countries be designated as Countries of Particular Concern in the context of religious freedom. This is the third time in a row that the same body has given such a recommendation and for the past two years, the US administration has chosen to ignore it. The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) makes recommendations to the US government, but they are not legally binding. Burma, Eritrea, Iran, Nigeria, North Korea, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Vietnam are among the other countries proposed for this designation by the USCIRF. Jignesh Mevani, Independent MLA from Gujarat’s Vadagam constituency and a Dalit leader, was arrested on Wednesday night by the Assam police and moved to Assam Thursday morning. The 41-year-old lawyer-turned-politician with ties but no formal links to the Congress was arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by a BJP leader on his tweets about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mevani was arrested from a Circuit House in Gujarat’s Palampur at around 11:30 pm. ,The complaint against Mevani was filed by Arup Kumar Dey, a BJP leader from Assam’s Kokrajhar. The First Information Report (FIR) relates lists offences related to criminal conspiracy, promoting enmity between communities and causing intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace and sections of the Information Technology Act. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday released the list of 107 candidates - 57 out of 58 candidates who will contest in the first phase of the elections and 48 out of 55 candidates in the second phase. Dara Singh Chauhan, the Uttar Pradesh forests and environment minister, resigned from the Yogi Adityanath Cabinet on Wednesday, following a slew of resignations from the BJP a day earlier. Chauhan alleged that the Adityanath government had done little for Dalits and backward classes as he tendered his resignation from his post, and is likely to join the Samajwadi Party (SP) although this has not yet been confirmed. The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court gave Rs 15,000 for a poor Dalit student. The girl approached it after being unable to deposit the amount for allotment of a seat at IIT (BHU) after cracking the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advance. The bench further directed the Joint Seat Allocation Authority and IIT (BHU) to admit the student in the Mathematics and Computing course (Bachelor and Master of Technology, dual degree course). The bench also instructed the BHU to create a supernumerary seat for the Dalit student if there is no seat vacant. The bench asked the student to report at BHU within three days with the required documents for admission. A bench of Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh passed the order on a petition moved by student Sanskriti Ranjan in person. She requested the bench that the Joint Seat Allocation Authority and IIT (BHU) be directed to grant her some more time to deposit the fee, which is a sum of Rs 15,000. It was pleaded in the petition that she belonged to the Scheduled Caste category. She scored 95.6% marks in Class 10 and 94% in class 12. Ranjan secured 92.77 percentile in JEE Mains Examination and bagged a rank of 2,062 as an SC candidate. Thereafter, she applied for JEE Advanced on September 16 and cleared it on October 15, scoring 1,469 rank in the SC category. The petitioner was allotted a seat at IIT (BHU) Varanasi for Mathematics and Computing course in counselling. However, she could not arrange the meagre amount of Rs 15,000, the fees to be paid before the scheduled date, stated the petition. Ranjan pleaded that her father was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. He was advised to get a kidney transplant and also had to undergo dialysis twice a week. In such circumstances, due to her father's ill-health and the financial crisis created by medical expenses and COVID-19, she could not arrange Rs 15,000 for allotment of a seat at IIT (BHU). The petitioner and her father have written many times to the Joint Seat Allocation Authority for extension of time indicating the precarious condition for which she could not deposit the fee, but did not get a reply, pleaded advocates Sarvesh Dubey and Samta Rao. Considering that a bright, young Dalit girl had appeared before the HC seeking equity jurisdiction to be able to pursue her dream of getting admitted to the IIT, the court on its own volunteered to contribute Rs 15,000, the fees for allocation of the seat, the bench said. The amount was handed over to the petitioner after court hours on Monday, it said.

It will have tremendous impact amongst not just dalits but all the subaltern masses.
