On Wednesday, a special court designated to conduct matters against MP’s and MLA’s heard day-long arguments of their lawyers as well as the Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh representing the ED. In the argument for Malik, counsel Amit Desai submitted that in 2017, Chhagan Bhujbal, who was in judicial custody in 2017, was permitted to vote in the Presidential elections. The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday booked Maharashtra minister and National Congress Party (NCP) spokesperson Nawab Malik for his alleged connection with a money laundering case linked to gangster Dawood Ibrahim and the underworld. The central agency has reportedly established a money trail linking Nawab Malik to the people connected to the underworld, reported several news reports. The agency will seek remand of Malik to interrogate him further. In January, the NCB had arrested a British national, Karan Sajnani and allegedly recovered 75 kg of marijuana, 125 kg of marijuana-related material and many cannabis buds imported from the US from him. The NCB claimed that based on his interrogation, they found money exchanged between him and Khan. Following this, Khan was summoned and then arrested on January 9. Khan was granted bail in September. Malik had claimed that his son-in-law was framed. National Congress Party (NCP) leader Nawab Malik, who has been arrested and questioned by the Enforcement Directorate, raised a question on the birth certificate of National Crime NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede. Malik Monday posted a copy of Wankhede’s birth certificate on Twitter which has his father's name mentioned as Dawood Wankhede. On Monday morning, Wankhede filed an affidavit with the special court hearing the drugs-on-cruise case. The affidavit was in response to Malik posting a tweet with document related to the NCB officer's birth and writing: Forgery began here.
